Bryn Awelon Nursing Home holds significant historical interest.
Built in 1908 by David Lloyd George and his wife Margaret as a family residence, the original plaque from that time still adorns the front of the building. David Lloyd George later became British Prime Minister, leading the country through and beyond the First World War. Many original features of the home have been carefully preserved to maintain its historical character.
The home also bears a Purple Plaque in honour of Lady Megan, commemorating notable women in Welsh history.
Perched in an elevated position, Bryn Awelon enjoys sweeping views of the coastal landscape, Criccieth Castle, and the sea—particularly stunning on clear days. The property is set within eight acres of gardens and grounds originally designed by the landscape gardener John St Bodfen Griffith and includes a secluded memorial garden designed by Lady Megan in tribute to her mother. This garden has been officially recognised as a site of historic interest.
